1. What does TAP stand for?
TAP officially stands for The Association for POOL. We like to think it means Totally Addicted to Pool!!!
2. When did TAP start playing?
It began play in 1994 as a league for the pool player.
3. What are the prize paybacks?
TAP Austin puts back 50% of the weekly team dues into prize and money payouts to the top winning teams. Currently this is $15 per playing team per week. If there are 50 teams playing a 15 week session, then the prize purse will contain about $11,000. This would be enough money to send 2 teams to nationals and pay out $3,000 in cash to the top teams.
4. Do you have to be good to play in a league?
No, we all started out at some point. League play is a great way to learn and devolop your skills. Plus it is just plain fun and you get to meet some neat people. Plus in TAP beginner (skill level 2) players can receive unlimited assistance from their coach.

6. Where are the TAP nationals?
TAP nationals floats its location every 2 years. They have been in Las Vegas; Lousiville, KY; New Orleans; Myrtle Beach, SC; and Orlando, FL.
7. How do I join?
The best thing to do is get at least 5 friends and put together a team(click here to register a team). Or, if you need a team then check out the message boards for teams needing players and click here to sign up.
8. Can I play on more than 1 team?
Absolutely. Many players play on multiple nights and on multiple teams. This is a great way to get better. You cannot play on more than 1 team in the same division.
9. How big is TAP?
TAP is played in over 30 states and in Canada. There were over 300 active divisions in the spring of 2006. TAP is growing rapidly and just began playing in Texas and California. Austin is the only active TAP League in Texas.
10. How much does it cost to play?
TAP costs $20 yearly membership; and $30 each night of play per team. 5 team members play each night of play making it $6 per playing player each night of play. These are the lowest prices in town for league play!!
11. Will I become a better pool player if I join a league?
Yes!! Weekly competition and team mates will help you get better. Also, called pocket pool will help you learn to control the table.
12. Who determines my handicap?
All TAP handicaps are calculated by the State of the Art web-based handicap and stat system called Pool-Net. Your handicap is based on all the stats entered into a computer from the score sheets of all your matches played. Each calculation is composed of over 240 algorithms and your handicap is an average of all TAP players across the USA and Canada.
